January 2021: EHSA President's Message
From Mike Thomas, '67
If we’ve learned anything in these past few months, it’s those that can pivot and adapt to our new environment will find success and happiness. Those who do not, I’m not sure how things will turn out for you. EHSA IS PIVOTING! Come connect with the Association for some of the news things on tap for 2021.
Building on the recent success of our Giving Tuesday Campaign, our 200th Anniversary Fund fundraising remains front and center. If you gave, I thank you for your support. But do not be surprised if you receive another tap on the shoulder this year to help make our 200th a success as we raise funds to support: EHS Student Scholarships, EHS Pathways Programs, Athletics, Music and Arts, et al. We need your support to keep these programs humming along. Headmaster Caitlin Murphy and staff are doing an amazing job of remote student engagement despite the COVID stops and starts.
We also need to stay in touch with you! If this newsletter has not reached your current email address, please let us know by visiting our website and submitting your updated contact information. Much of our communications will be electronic this year and in the future. This will ensure you receive all our missives, school happenings and ‘changes’ in our planned 200th Anniversary timing.
Finally, we’re trying to have some fun with virtual Zoom meetings, the High School’s Renaissance and its student success stories. Stay tuned for our 2020 class stars: Nedgyn Laloi’s Tutoring Center’s Mavridis’ Scholarship award or Ainsley Pena’s - the first female EHS Varsity football letter winner -- full scholarship to Curry College or Naby Diallo ’18 and his full Northeastern academic award and matriculation. These student success stories reinforce our proud mission today as it was in 1821 of educating working class families’ children to become our next generation’s leaders.
