February 2021: EHSA President's Message

Updated: Feb 23

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Nope! This is not the vaccine case today. Last month we talked about how important it is to pivot. We’re seeing more delays in the vaccine distribution for all ages. Because of its uncertainty and uneven pace, we’ve decided to hold our 200th English High School Anniversary Celebration Virtually in 2021.

Plans are still in place for an in-person Anniversary Gala to be held in Boston in 2022 so stay tuned.

To stay in touch with EHSA and news on Anniversary Celebrations and upcoming events such as webinars and class reunions, please be sure we have your most current contact information. To update your information, just visit our website and submit to join our mailing list.

Strengthening recent successes in acquiring new emails of EHS Alumni, we have a target of 1500 new emails this year. Why are they so important? They are easy, economical and effective way to talk to you. So, stay current about the school and make sure we have your email; as well visit and like/comment on our social media pages including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.

We celebrate Black History Month personally. We’d like to boast about some of our Alumni Board who have played a part in making Black history themselves. From General Joe Carter ’72. to Lt. Col. Enoch Woodhouse II, (our own Tuskegee Airman) class of 1944, to Bob Prince ’67, former General Manager of MBTA; they make us proud. In this newsletter you can read more about these and all of our distinguished group of EHSA Board Members.

We are unveiling our $3 Million Dollar 200th Anniversary Fund multi-year campaign for all to participate and invite you to stay in touch for details on how you can take part -- we have some great ideas in the works.

Onward!

Best regards,

Mike Thomas, '67
